The purpose of this blog is to help other homeschooling families choose the best books for their families.
We are a group of homeschooling mothers who will all have different opinions. This is not a bad thing. We will be able to have many different books listed with many different views.
This is not a book "review" blog.
What we will be doing is listing the books we are reading and letting you know whether we found anything that could be offensive to other families.
The things that some families list may not be offensive to other families, and that is OK.
We do not want anyone to be offended by what we write.
We will each have a different viewpoint, so if we list something as possibly offensive, please do not take it personal if you disagree.

1. Religious/ Secular Content will include whether it is Christian, or a particular religion, and we will include here whether or not there are any holidays, Christian or secular, as well.
2. Adult Content can include any kind of a sexual nature from Children OR Adults, Dating, courtship, kissing, etc.
3. Mature Topics will include such topics as war, divorce, crime, death, poverty, disabilities, slavery, suicide, abortion, the holocaust, etc.
4. Strong/ Inappropriate Topics will include curse words, name calling, anything that we feel fits this category.

5. Magic/ Witchcraft/ Fictional Characters will include any kind of magic, even if it is not necessarily "bad". It will also include any fictional characters such as the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny.
6. Disrespect/ Rebellion will include lying, sneaking around, not listening to parents, being rude, anything we feel fits here.
7. Drug/ Alcohol use is pretty obvious, but even if it is mentioned, in such as way that is not all bad, but parents may want to know about it, we will list it.
8. Violence/ Abuse will include abuse of any kind, human, or animal, bullying, etc.
I hate to call spanking abuse, but everyone feels differently about this, so if a book has spanking in it, we may mention it in such a way that just says the children were spanked in this particular case.
Please keep in mind that beating IS abuse, and will be labeled as such.
9. Educational Value, will have a simple Yes or No.
10. Positive / Negative Message? Will be labeled with a Positive, negative, or neutral.
